A beautiful day….. and a great time had by all! That was Saturday 10th June when a Pet Show, a Fun Day and a display of ‘225 years of Tewin Cowper’ all combined to make a wonderful day out for the community. It was lovely to see so many families from the past and the present coming together to enjoy the fun, eat hotdogs, burgers and cake, reminisce and tell stories of times gone by. The latest fashion accessory is the ‘Tewin Cowper bag’ with all the faces and names of our current children printed on – if you don’t have one, you’re missing out; there are still some left and at the price of £5, too good to miss. You can still order a copy of the book that was printed for the occasion; with a wealth of photos and memories it’s a great read at £8.50 for a colour copy or £5 for the black and white edition.

Here’s to the next 225 years!

"This is a GOOD School" OFSTED 2016

We would like to raise your awareness of a new Government website for comparing school performance. The website address is www.compare-school-performance.service.gov.uk

Select ‘Tewin Cowper CE School’; If you select the option for comparing the results to other schools, you will see that Tewin Cowper is ranked an impressive 11th out of 125 similar schools across the UK. Our maths results were particularly outstanding as they were well above the national average. It has also been noted at the end of the table that there was no better performing school in the group, within a 75 mile radius.

Courage doesn’t always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, ‘I will try again tomorrow’.

Summer Term 2017 in Chestnut Class Welcome back to the Summer Term. It is hard to believe that we are in the last term already. When I think back to our first week in this class, we have all come such a long way. The children are maturing fast and it is lovely to see them now taking responsibility for their own learning and being proud of what they have achieved. They are doing so well, we have had lots of fun and I am very proud of all of them. ...

The dreaded Maths Unit! This is always something I struggled with as a child, and it is often an area that children find difficult due to its abstract nature. We hear many "1 past 3"s and "50 to 9"s. Teaching time is a long process and cannot be taught in one night/one go! Obviously, the notes I have written below are quite wordy, but it may be helpful to use the same sort of terminology to help the children to understand. Here's a few pointers w...
